YouTube user bengraphics compiled this five-minute clip about a month ago, tracing the history of visual effects in movies, starting from the very beginning and going all the way up to last year's Oscar winner The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

A "5th-grader-friendly" collection of clips and making-of footage from notable visual effects films of the past century.

Originally intended for educational use as an introduction to a classroom lecture.
